All the same features apart from the K having an increased base clock frequency and the addition of an unlocked multiplier

I'm buying the i7-6700k because I intend to do a lot of heavy tasks, and I don't plan to overclock. Is the only difference between the i7-6700 and the i7-6700K the clock frequency?

At the same clock frequency, they would be identical.

 

That said the 6700K is 4 GHz base with a 4.2 GHz max boost speed out of the box, and can be overclocked beyond that. The 6700 is 3.4 GHz base/4 GHz boost. So there will be a minor difference out of the box from the fact that they don't run at the same frequency unless you underclock the 6700K.
