Can a second case fan help temps?

LiquidGoo

Hi!

My question is like the title says. I already have a front case fan pulling air into the system.

Also can a second case fan reduce dust?

Thanks.

A case fan extracting air near the CPU is better than one intake. I find one fan is enough and only use intake fans to suck air through dust filter.

So can one fan extracting air near the CPU help the stock heatsink?

Luke did a test of how many case fans are needed.  I think 2 was optimal IIRC.  I'll post video if I can find it.

What is your current fan setup and temps? Unless you are hitting really high temps, adding fans won't do much.

Probably, but we'd need to hear more about your setup. You want more fans going into your system, btw, than going out.

The ideal fan setup is two intakes, one exhaust, assuming we're talking about the same fans. If you've got 140mm mounts up front and a 92mm mount in back, you've got the strangest case this side of the S.S. Lian-Li, and a situation in which you probably don't need that second fan.

Will adding case fans help your temperatures? By a little, sure, but improving temperatures by a large amount usually involves replacing the stock cooler with something aftermarket.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.
