Which wireless adapter is the best?

Hi there, 

 

I've had very poor internet for a couple of months now, and I currently have the TP-Link WDN4800 450Mbps wireless adapter.

Unfortunately I don't have the option of a wired, Ethernet connection due to my location so a wireless adapter is my only option (I've tried power-line adapters but for some reason they don't perform well at all). 

I've done a far bit of research and a couple of the best options I've seen include; the ASUS PCE-AC56 Next Generation Dual-Band Wireless-AC1300, and the TP-LINK Archer T8E AC1750 Dual Band Wireless PCI Express Adapter. 

They're both the same price (around £50.00) and I can't really decide which one would be best for online gaming and HD video streaming.

The TP-LINK Archer T8E AC1750 has a higher max capable data rate over 5 ghz so I'd recommend that. 

I also have experience with the T8E AC1900 and I've not had any problems

I've got the Asus one and it's fairly decent. 

 

How much stuff do you have to connect? I have gotten tired of poor performance with regular wireless cards and I'm putting in a Ubiquiti wireless bridge.

 

EDIT: Also, how fast is your internet connection? No point in getting some crazy high speed NIC if you are only going to get 10Mb/s from the internet.

I pay for gigabit connection meaning theoretically speaking I can get up to 100Mb/s.

And how much do u really receive ?

With my current WiFi adapter I receive a fraction of that, maybe 3/4 Mb/s  sometimes even less, sometimes more. I think If I had a better performing adapter I would get better a high download speed. At least I'd like to think so.

And how much does your router receive? The router (if it's an aftermarket one ) will probably have an online interface on which u can look up how much the router directly receives

I'm not actually sure, although it's a decent aftermarket ASUS router, I'll have to take a look.

Also do u use any repeater to extend the wlan range of the router or does the pc get the direct wireless signal?

My PC gets the signal directly from the router.
