670 or 280x ?

My friend is selling his EVGA 670 for around £150/$240. He's only had it for a few months.

 

Should I buy that or go for a brand new R9 280x which is around £230/$370 depending on the type.

280X is rebranded 7970 Ghz, 7970 Ghz>680...

1st thing, your friends card is WAAAAAY overpriced since you can buy a 7970 for like $250 on a good deal (Not sure how many Euros) and it outperformes the 670 AND it's a new card. 2nd go for 280x easily, or a 7970 then OC to ghz edition speeds if you can find one for less than a 280x

just get a 7970 or a 280x with a good cooler and over clock it to the max and you can max out almost any game you want. at 1080 and at 1440.

as a 670 user I would go with the 280x. youd regret not paying for this years model.

The AMD Radeon R9 280X is an all around better card. Higher clocks, more bandwidth, more VRAM, and the same or cheaper price.
