Internet barely even loading google after modem/router upgrade

Jerochy

Hey guys,

So we've been having some internet troubles at my GF's house (connected but no internet access), called the ISP, and they said the modem was going bad as it's from 2009. We went to best buy, and picked up a netgear AC1600 modem router all in 1. We set it up as the instructions said, and it isn't giving us the "connected but no internet access" error anymore, but it is unbelievably slow. She has 25mbps down internet from service electric, and it takes more than 2 minutes to just load the google home page. We tried it in her living room and up stairs where the modem and router were originally, still the same thing. I've tried it on the 2.4 and 5 bands, still not working.

Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Today is not your day.

Netgear routers have an exploit that was found recently which allows them to be hacked into.

Return the router and buy an Asus or TP Link router.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

I ended up changing my password on the network and saw that new host immediately connected. I just realized today it is infact the roku that is down stairs haha.
