What 1tb hard drive should i get?

Im making my first pc, and im making it gaming oriented (good gpu, cpu etc), however now im wondering what i should get for a hard drive. I see many options on amazon, some as low as $40 but im not sure if i should look for the cheapest deal.

That one is as cheap as it is because it's "Certified Refurbished." I don't know that I like the idea of refurbished mechanical hard disks, being that they are rather delicate and have moving parts.

 

The model looks fine to me. Most Western Digital Blue and Black drives are fantastic choices.

WD Blue or Seagate Barracuda. Definitely buy new, used or refurb drives are not a good idea.

Never buy a used or refurbished hard drive. General rule for me is that if it has moving parts don't buy it used (I don't mean fans on a GPU or CPU cooler though). Also make sure that it is a 7200RPM hard drive as 5400RPM are really slow.

 

The absolute best hard drive you could buy is a WD Black but a WD Blue or Seagate Barracuda will be fine.

HGST if you can.  Toshiba if you can't.   And why not a 2 or 3Tb model?  Personally not a fan of WD.

WD Blue, HGST. They're good.

 

I personally hate Seagate drives as they were failing more frequently than WD drives.
