Is an FX-8350 good for gaming?

Hello

I build my very first PC about 5 months ago and I wanted it to be a gaming PC, but I think I made a mistake when choosing the CPU. I've heard Intel processors are better for gaming whereas an FX-8350 is useful for video editing, rendering and that sort of stuff.

Would you guys recommend selling my current CPU and getting say, an i5 4670K? I'll be playing games like BF4, Skyrim, Watch Dogs. I want to run games at max settings, at 60 FPS and at 1080p.

Yes, it's a very bad CPU and you should totally send it to me. I may or may not send you back a 4760k.

I don't always have time to study, but when I do, I don't.

You would ebenfit in Skyrim and some other games from changing, but generally saying you are good :)

But just saying: You will not be able to have 60 FPS with max settings in Watch Dogs. Sorry :(

It's just fine. Faster in some games (like BF4), and can be alot cheaper too,

FX 83xx is not faster in Battlefield 4 than i5.

i5 gets higher FPS in multiplayer when the REAL stress is put on the CPU.

I ran Skyrim and sadly, I was dissapointed. As far as I know my GPU should eat that game, but when I was playing I got around 40-60 FPS with vsync disabled.

Skyrim is old and unoptimized , all those new titles coming out are optimized to use 8-core CPUs.

That's what keeps me from selling it, it's more future-proof.

Both, but mostly your GPU...

Even 780 SLI will believe it or not struggle getting 60 FPS in the games which is coming out now (BF4 not being one of them because that game is not focused on eye candy. Neither is COD: Ghost).

If you don't believe me: Fire up Farcry 3/Crysis 3/ Total War: Rome 2, set them to max and see for yourself ;)

Your CPU is great, i just don't get why do people buy old 970 boards still, the 990fx boards are soo cheap it's unreal, but nvm.

The 8350 will beat an i5, it has more cores, you will be able to do more things at once with that CPU, and you will experience a lot less slow down. Modern games are optimized for more cores these day, so if you can't afford an i7 the FX8350 is the next best thing!

Enjoy your epic CPU!!!

its an amazing CPU for the price with next gen games going more for multicores its really starting to show it's strengths, for a budget I would diffently get the 8320 and a 990x or fx motherboard and spend most of the money on the video card that's what's going to drive performance
