School banned VPN

Angryjellyblob1

I know someone posted a similar topic but the people who replied did not go into depth on how to fix my problem;

So my school managed to completely block vpn apps like 'vpn master' from connecting to vpn servers, is their anyway to get around this at all?

Be careful if you are at college though, as many colleges that require appropriate usage agreements specifically prohibit the usage of proxies. Depending on the agreement (such as at my school) you can be expelled for using a proxy.

No, you're on their network therefore they control what is allowed on it. You can try different ports or proxies but then you risk them blacklisting your device if detected.

So they can spy on you? Seems like an invasion of privacy to me. Especially if that is the only internet service students are permitted to purchase...

Edit: If the colleges rules are, "if you want to go to our college you must give us permission to see what you do online", I would NEVER go to that college.

My network is free, and it is usually to protect servers as having a virus on a University's server could take down internet for the hundreds, or (in my case) thousands of students. It is also so that they can make sure that you are not trying to do something illegal, but don't worry because most schools don't have the resources to track everything that all of their students are doing at once (unless you are at some place like MIT or Caltech).

Yeah but there are some extreme cases, like I heard of an incident at Lipscomb University in Tennessee that the school kicked a student out of the school because he watched gay porn... To me that seems like an invasion of privacy and the school shouldn't be able to access nevertheless act on such private information.

Some vpns can connect over port 443, which you can't easily block.

Also tor normally works.

I already use Tor, I'm refering to a IOS app like TunnelBear and VPN Master that add a VPN connection to your phone, is there such an app that you can change the port the VPN is on?

I feel that I was not specific with what I'm in need for,
I need an IOS app like TunnelBear and VPN master that may be able to configure ports.

Buy a private internet access subscription. They have about 200-400 servers per datacenter. Your school can have fun blocking those.

They can because only the Government is bound by the 4th amendment. Schools are not the Government. Just like your employee can spy on what you do. Because its completely legal.

Thread locked, asking for help to bypass network security measures and protection is not allowed.

It is also important to be aware that schools are compelled to by local/national legislation to provide adequate and due care of students while at school, this includes internet access. There is age restricted content on the internet and access to that must be prevented, however that is not the only reason to block access to certain websites or applications.

While you are on a school's, college's or university's network as far as the rest of the world is concerned and can tell you are them. If you spam email to thousands of people the entire ability to send email can get blocked. If you access illegal material, that could tarnish public perception as well as potentially get them in trouble. What may seem like small and insignificant things could actually do multiple millions of damage particularly in the case of a university.

Internet provided to you by an educational institute or your employer does not belong to you and you don't get to decide what is acceptable use of that resource, it is not for your personal use.
