trying to choose a motherboard that wont limit graphics

heres what i picked out so far:

im considering this motherboard:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16813157543

however, im also considering either a 1070sli instead of the 1080, or just adding anouther 1080 later. however, theres this from the motherboards spec list:

3 x PCI Express 3.0 x16 Slots (PCIE1 @ x16 mode; PCIE3 @ x16 mode; PCIE5 @ x8 mode)*
*If you install CPU with 28 lanes, PCIE1/PCIE3/PCIE4 will work at x16/x8/x4 and 3-Way SLI is not supported. To support 3-Way SLI, please install CPU with 40 lanes.

and my cpu only has 28 lanes. would the second card running on pcie8x instead of 16x negatively affect it?

What will you use this PC for? Use PCPartPicker, its much better than this. Just get 1 1080, SLI can scale poorly. No, 8X is plenty of bandwidth for a GPU.

Please quote our replys so we get a notification and can reply easily. Never cheap out on a PSU, or I will come to watch the fireworks.

i will use it for both high end gaming and high end video editing and music production. i was thinking is just do the single 1080, cause while sli1070 would give more cuda cores, and be benificial to adobe premiere, it wouldnt improve all games since like you said, it usualy doesnt scale well.

If you are that worried about core count you should be looking at quadros, or go for a 980ti sli as you would get more cores from the 980Ti

Even 1 980Ti has more cores (256 more) than a 1080 and costs about the same if you are buying new (a lot less used).
