I am currently rocking an iPhone 6s Plus and love it. Very fast great battery life and so on. But eventually it will be obsolete and I plan to make the switch to Android. I don't care about my games or calender stuff like that. I want to switch but the security of Android just sounds horrible compared to iPhones. I don't want to start a flame war but going to a website and watching a simple video that gives you stage fright seems down right scary. Or a simple text with malware injected into the image and so on.

Just keeping this here as a The apk can't do anything unless you open it and you can't open it without deliberately enabling side loading. 

 

Buy a phone with monthly security updates and encryption enabled. That way you have a reasonably secure phone.

From what I know, ALL big "New Virus on Android" stuff you see in media is all from downloading apps from places that isnt Google Play. and to do that, you need too specificaly go in to the settings and turn a setting off.
I recommend Nexus (or now, Pixel) phone btw. (Monthly security updates)

 

Has it ever been a text message that reboots Android phone as it is with iPhone, but I would like to know if it has happened (isnt really security tho)

No one I know have gotten their Android phone hacked or gotten a virus (that they know about) (but that is my experience)
