Recommended parts for a friend on Black Friday. I didn't mess up, right?

Intel Core i3-6100 (1199,-)

MSI B150M Bazooka Plus (849,-)

8GB 2133MHz DDR4 from Crucial, no heatspreaders or anything (490,-)

Cooler Master B700 v. 2 (539,-)

The main concern is the i3, however, the options were the i3-6100+GTX 1070, or an i5 (6400/6500/6600K)+GTX 1060 6GB

For peripherals I recommended the G710 keyboard and the Philips 240V5QDAB monitor.

Since you are using a 1920x1080 monitor, the i5-6500 + GTX-1060 would be better. The GTX-1070 is aimed more towards ultra-wide 1080 or 2560 x 1440 resolution range.

The motherboard has 4 RAM slots so, get 2x4Gigs of RAM rather than a single 8Gig stick.

The B700 power supply is overkill. You only need 500-550watts.

A sieve may not hold water, but it will hold another sieve.

i5-6600, 16Gigs, ITX Corsair 250D, R9 390, 120Gig M.2 boot, 500Gig SATA SSD, no HDD

The 1070 was a huge waste of money in that build. An i5-6500 + GTX 1060 would have been better and cheaper.

The other comments have made it clear that a GTX 1060 or an RX 480 + i5 would be better.

The RAM is an 8GB kit of 2x 4GB. Simply the cheapest kit available.

The PSU was on sale, and cost about the same as an EVGA 600W, so that's why I chose it.

Performance will be pretty good, but he wont get the max performance out of the 1070 unless he is playing at 4K or up. Even an i5 can hold it back

Update: I talked with him, he's going to return the 600P SSD and get an i5 6400 instead of the I3 6100
