Best way to 2-way 1060's, or should I sell one and go with a 1070

Go to solution Solved by Tuna Terrorist,

Ok, Just found out that developers need to code for MDA or LDA Explicit, so it looks like ill be buying a 6700k and a 1070.

COMIC SANS FTW

I bought a Gigabyte 1060 thinking it would be all the performance I would need, but I can't manage to get 40 fps sometimes in Battlefield 1 in intense firefights, so I need an upgrade. My system is an AMD 8320, 16gb Ram, and a gigabyte 1060 6gb. Should I use another Multi gpu standard or sell the 1060 for a 1070.

1070 by far! A lot of games don't even support SLI, you should only use SLI if you have the highest end cards and still need more power. Do 1060s even have SLI bridge slots?

gtx 1060 doesn't support SLI. get a gtx 1070, but keep in mind that your cpu will bottleneck the 1070 so upgrade that asap.

They dont support SLI but there are other ways to do multi GPU, using MDA or LDA explicit. Trying to find some people who have tried either of those

It really helps with rendering and shit, just not games. 6600k performs the same in games. Good choice.

I beg to differ. Purchased the 6700k instead of 1070. I had maybe a 3-5fps increase in cpu and non-cpu intensive games. Not worth it unless you do things that require heavy cpu usage and more than 4 cores. I also tested it with the 1070 before i returned the 6700k. Same result..

No need to hardcore fanboy over your own cpu :P It's a good cpu, don't get me wrong. Good for games and rendering, etc. But, the 6600k is better suited for just games. Same performance, $100 cheaper.

And what games are these exactly? Did you even compare the minimum framerate where the i7 excels?

There's countless benchmarks that showcase that an i7 can present its own benefits over the i5. Yet people regurgitate the same old thing of it being unnecessary.

Here's just a few to get us started.

Gears of War 4

Fallout 4

Battlefield 1

So now disagreeing with someone because they're wrong is classified as fanboying? Jeez.

The i5 6600K simply does not offer the 'same performance' as the i7 6700K.

If you were playing at 1080p, you'd be finding the i5 6600K struggling to keep up with the GTX 1070 in more than a few games.

The "bottleneck" is more apparent when one component isn't given enough work to do.

I agree, but others will say differently due to 1080@144 being unreachable in a few games.
