Let me begin with my current two choices.

I am going traveling for the next two-three years and I want a notebook with great battery life, accurate colour reproduction, and obviously portability.  I use Photoshop and Lightroom extensively, so having the hyperthreaded dual core is a compromise I am willing to make.  The two I have chosen satisfy these requirements, but I was wondering if there is something better that I am missing.  I have found several others, but their colour reproduction is sub-par, however the price is good...

The most I am willing to spend is $1500 CAD, and that is pushing the limits.

Thank-you!

I think the shoe-in is the XPS 13.  The 4k variant will get you the color accuracy but it will take a hit on battery.

To date, my favorite travel laptop has been my HP Elitebook Folio G1 (never been a big HP fan).  It's light weight, gets decent battery for its size, the 1080P screen is amazing, and the Core M7 performance has been perfect for office related tasks and I'm certain it would handle PS/LR just fine.  The only change I made was the SSD, increasing it from 256GB to 512GB.

I still own an XPS 13 and recently sold an XPS 15.  When I'm not gaming on the go I am using the Folio.

The Core M5 is the only option in my price range for the G1, and I just don't think that it will have the performance I desire.  It does look good, but I don't want to waste money.

I really like the XPS 13, and I think it fits my budget.  My only qualms with the XPS are; small SSD, small screen and price to performance compared to the Zenbook.

I do love the battery life, screen, and chassis.

Check ebay for 'refurb' XPS 13 models.  You can get the 6600U or 6560U variants (the latter with 512GB SSD and 16GB ram) in the $1000USD range.

I couldn't find a Canadian link but maybe you find it yourself:

Asus Zenbook UX310UQ:

Intel® Core™ i5-7200U Prozessor (2,50 GHz)

8GB DDR4 (2133) I believe its upgradable to 20GB - (4 of 8 solderd on)

NVIDIA GeForce 940MX 2.048 MB

1000GB HDD

256GB M.2 SSD

Should also have good battery life

Should cost about 1440 CAD

I really like the XPS 13, however it is out of my price range with the Canadian dollar being so poor.  If I had a bigger budget it would be a no-brainer.

I also couldn't find that particular model.  I don't need a discrete card, the iGPU will work fine for me.

I am cycling across the U.K. and Europe next year, so having a light notebook with a great battery is key.  I really don't need 4k.

XPS13 is all that. I was just confused about your 1500 budget not even able to cover it.

My budget is really $1400 all in with tax.  I could stretch that to $1500, but the XPS 13 on Ebay is closer to $1800.

I am planning on purchasing the notebook on either Black Friday or Boxing day.

Yea, I was going to see a few things too. Btw have you checked Kjiji, pretty sure there's a few XPS13 listed there below your budget too.

I couldn't find anything local.  I live in B.C. and computer hardware is ridiculously overpriced here.

Good ebay sellers with manufacturer warranty is good.

Is the XPS 13 worth getting with the QHD screen?  Or is the Lenovo 710s a better choice for 1080?

I'm concerned about the battery life, and I have read reviews which state that the QHD XPS uses far more battery (makes sense...).
