Hello! So I just got my new ram for my pc today and was holding on by the side panels (not touching the more important bottom or side bits) and my friend told me it was bad because of the the static charge that I had on my hands, now I get the fact about the static charge, but because I am not actually touching the important parts, would it destroy or have a chance of affecting the ram? I only held it for a couple of seconds. Thanks!

You shouldn't even breath on your RAM as the static in the air may discharge onto the component.

 

TL:DR Don't worry about static. As long as you ground yourself every few minutes, you'll be fine.

99% you're fine. 1% RMA it because it was DOA. You didn't kill RAM by touching it.
