Is this amount of drive writes normal? and how do i find it for other drives?

Hi guys,

 

Following the Spotify reading too much info to drives fiasco, I've decided to check my Drives' written data.

 

Is this normal or is there a problem? Thanks .

 

Seagate HDD - 56TB written

For my Toshiba HDD, I've tried but no results on that......

Same for my Adata SSD.

 

How can I find out the data for both?

CrystalDiskInfo worked for all of mine. 13TB written total on my 840 EVO over the course of about 15 months.

Where in CrystalDiskInfo can I find it?

Should be a spot near the top right called total host writes.

The total number of writes are not showing up for your SSD? For the Toshiba hard drive, it's possible that it may not record this kind of data.

Amount written is a header. If it didn't show up on your two drives in that smart utility it probably won't show up for the others.

 

I have two ssd's one shows writes the other doesn't. (850 Evo does, M500 doesn't).

 

That says you have written only 56GB to that drive. Does that seem right to you?

Seems pretty reasonable. My main drive atm has about 9TB in 15months of use.

Yep, sounds pretty alright. I have 56TB in 1.5 years of on time. Drive is roughly two years old.

 

Yeah, as mentioned above, some older SSDs don't report the bytes written. I remember my old Plextor SSDs from 2011 not having this. My newer Sandisk Extreme 2 and Extreme Pro SSDs do report this though.

For those two drives that didnt' show up on the other program? I did say sometimes the drives just don't report writes.
