GTX 960 Problems with Battlefield 1

FurdTurgeson

First off, I'm getting a 1070 for Christmas, so poop off if you say it's not good enough.

Let's continue.

About halfway through some of the battles I play in Battlefield one, I get this message.

unknown.png

My GTX 960 has 2GB of VRAM, so I know I'm alright there, but this keeps happening and I don't know why.

I turned down my GPU clock under stock settings and reduced the reso scale and settings to accommodate, and I'm running it in a fullscreen 1080p window.

I checked my GPU TweakII monitor, and the VRAM wasn't maxing out or anything unusual.

Anyone know a way to solve this or having the same problems as well?

Have you tried reinstalling Battlefield 1? Have you tried reinstalling, updating, or downdating your drivers?

Come Bloody Angel

Break off your chains

And look what I've found in the dirt.

Pale battered body

Seems she was struggling

Something is wrong with this world.

Fierce Bloody Angel

The blood is on your hands

Why did you come to this world?

Everybody turns to dust.

Everybody turns to dust.

The blood is on your hands.

The blood is on your hands!

Pyo.

I had weeks old NVIDIA drivers installed when this happened, I updated and restarted with the same problems.

Try reinstalling Battlefield 1, and see if there is a firmware update for the 960.

One, I checked, there is not, and two, I'd rather not wait another 4 hours.

clean install your drivers and set your card to maximum performance in nvidia control panel

So what are the graphic settings? Did you try with everything on low? As you can see the vram is maxed. Just wonna narrow down the causes.

  • Ok, so you tried it with the core clock turned down, I assume you also tried it with everything at stock and the fan(s) at max on the card?

I can try using DX11 and see if that will help.

I noticed cpu usage goes down quite a bit on dx12 but so do frames. Its the opposite with dx11. For me atleast.

Temps weren't a problem, I tried with minimum clock and highest clock.

Well youre gpu usage isn't even consistent, so something is a problem. For the driver to crash its all in the card at that point, as in I doubt its cpu. But dx11 may give us a better idea of that.

I just played an entire round without crashes, sacrificing a few frames. Maybe the 960 doesn't support dx12 fully, even though it says it does on the box. Thanks for helping me eliminate the possibilities..
