Are there any risks running a card without a bracket?

Brian McKee

Hi, I have a low profile graphics card with no full height bracket for it (nor with one available afaik), I was wondering if it's ok to run it without a bracket if used in full height case.

Nope, I have a low profile case with a NIC in it that I didn't have a low profile bracket for it. I just used a zip-tie to keep it in place.

Depending on the orientation it may put a lot of stress on the PCIe slot.

The card is incredibly light.

Just make sure the video cable isn't putting a lot of strain on it and you'll be fine.

Only real danger if it's a light card is nocking it half out of the slot while everythings on.

Ok I'll keep this in mind.

If you want to risk breaking your PCIe slot then sure.

mine would probably fit, but block the mini HDMI and other port. It would be DVI only.
