CPU suddenly slow?!?!?!

Go to solution Solved by unclewebb,

Your CPU is severely throttling and is stuck at 800 MHz, likely because of a bad sensor on your motherboard.  Try running ThrottleStop and on the main screen, make sure BD PROCHOT is not checked.  This will block external throttling signals from getting to your CPU.

After that is fixed, try running something simple like a single thread of the built in TS Bench test.  Take a screenshot while your CPU is loaded with that test and it should show if your CPU is able to go higher than 800 MHz.

Hello,

I was playing CS:GO and my Frames just dropped from 200 to 30- Since then they have never gone up, the startup is also slow. I cleaned my pc and virus scanded it. (With 360 Security)

Ive turned off the Xbox DVR thing. and other things and it when up to 40-50 but still not to the original that i had before.

I dont know if i may have to clean it? or is it overheating somehow, not enough RAM?? not sure.

PC Specs:

Geforce GTX 980 Ti

Intel i7-6700K CPU (4.00Ghz)

31.95GB RAM

2560 x 1440,59Hz

Windows 10

Can you stress the CPU and show temperatures using CoreTemp, HWMonitor, etc?

I honestly dont know, what should i do?

The the game is running, alt-tab and look at task manager. It will tell you what your current speed is. It also show cpu utilisation. if it's pinned at 100% then that's your problem.

Where did you install CS;GO?

i mean what ssd / hdd are you using ?

A tool like speccy would be pretty good for diagnostics imo.

Use Intel Extreme Tuning Utility.

So it isn't a hdd speed problem.

If the cpu clock speed is still at 0.76ghz when the game is running then we've found the problem. The only reliable fix I know of is to disable Intel speedstep which will lock the cpu at around 4.0ghz.

go to energy settings and set the pc to high performance , or install throttlestop and tell your CPU to stay at a certain speed
