Upgrade: add second 970 gtx or get 1070??

Hey guys!

 

Thinking about upgrading my graphics performance and was wondering what would get me the better bang for my buck.

I currently have a 970 reference card in there and am curious what your thoughts are on slapping in a second one of those or if i should switch over to 1070 (just a sad loner though, because $$$)?

 

Oh and also what is your experience with mixing brands of GC in SLI?

sli is not a good solution as most games do not scale properly i would say get a 1070 but if you want something good for money get a another 970 as it is still a beast of a card and can be picked up cheap used

1) i dont think you would get much more with 2 970's then with 1 GTX1070

2) Some games SLI Scale very badly.

3) Overall for power consumption and many other things i would recommend the single GTX 1070

IF you can get the 970 for suuuuuper cheap, go that route. But at MSRP prices, definitely go with the 1070 and sell the old one.

Now I don't really game. especially not anything that would require any of this. I edit and do some motion graphics work. 

 

Any thoughts on single 1070 or dual 970 regarding that?

 

and yes of course i wouldn't buy that second one new...

SLI 970 look way cooler.

But single 1070 better option and will use a lot less power. And less heat.
