  1. 1. Which should I use in my PC

    • Single GTX1080
      10
    • Titan X (Maxwell) SLI
      1

Hi,

So I won a GTX 1080 in a competition it's the Strix version, I already have two Titan X's Maxwell versions now I am in the dilema as to if I keep the titans or the 1080 the 1080 is slightly better in games that don't support sli but what about the games that do will the titan x's stomp the 1080. What do you guys think. And I don't want to buy another 1080 and SLI it...

Custom PC:

Intel Core i7 5960X GTX1080 Strix | 64gb 2400mhz DDR4 Corsair Vengeance Ram | Samsung S951 256gb M.2 | 4TB WD Blue SSHD | EVGA Supernova G2 1300watt PSU | Acer XB270HU | Corsair K95 RGB | Corsair M65 RGB |

yeah I kind off only bought to titans two try SLI as I heard mixed things about it and having the most powerful card at the time if a game didn't support SLI it wouldn't have been as bigger deal because it would have been the best possible performance at that time for single card if that makes sense lol :D

oh you won it?.... build another rig? :) or if you really want to go crazy, sell the titans and get another 1080. If you won a founders edition, I'd think about selling it and keep the Titans even just for coolness

Personally I think even the 1080 would dip a lot in cities it really screws with frame rates when zoomed in :)

are we talking a lot better like I have heard two of the older titans is about the same as a single new titan not sure if that true or not also I've heard a lot about latency recently with SLI not something I personally noticed accept I end up disabling SLI in battlefield and CS:GO cause mirco stutter galore

I'm thinking of keeping the 1080 whilst the titans have some value left to them otherwise they will be worth very little once the next gen comes out and then get the monitor I want and then if I feel one isn't enough wait till the 1080ti comes out and the 1080's should have a price drop shouldn't they?

We'll if it helps, 2 founders edition 1080s is roughly equal in power to 3 Titan Xs so I'd assume 2 Strix 1080s would probably be better than 3 Titan Xs

Yeah that seems the most logical choice to me. Sell the Titan Xs and get another 1080. If you stick with two Titan Xs or a single 1080 you'll have to upgrade sooner anyway. Whereas with two 1080s you'll be all set for a long time!

Yeah I would have probably kept the Titans if it wasn't for winning the competition I just entered with no thought that I would win it lol but by the sounds of things the 1080's run cooler as well are two open air coolers ok for SLI I always thought blower cards were better for SLI.

Yeah I just sold one of my Titans about 30 minutes ago was quite happy with the price I got more than the 1070 costs for it and that a slightly better card around 7%-9% than the titan x
