I plan on doing lots of editing so thats what the 4930k is for. 1440p will be a big upgrade from cod 4 @ 720p!

How about wait for Q1 2014 for the 15 core Xeon E7-2890v2 2.8GHz processor?Lets make it as overkill as possible!

Oh yeah +1 to getting Sli 780Ti instead of cfx 290X.

Also if you are going Dual Xeon E7 then the Z9PED8WS mobo instead.

Cause E7 will perform worse than an i3 in gaming

Wrong, the E7 have 15 cores HT,the i3 have 2 cores HT.The clock speed is a bit smaller but more cores is still better especially for newer games.more cores is also better for video editing, cad and things like that.

Went and got the 900D from Canada Computers today so I didn't have to pay a lot to ship it. Didn't think the box would be this big! Pictures are also not quite as good as the others as I was having trouble finding a place to photograph the 900D.

I put it back in the box after taking these pics, still has all of the packaging tape stuff on it. Going to wait until I have everything before I start working with the case more.

Nope, I am right. An i3 with hyperthreading performs almost as good as an i5. The e7 on the other hand with a 30% lower clockspeed will perform at, you guessed it, 30% slower than an i3. More than 2-3 Cores except in a few games make no difference. And who the hell said anything about video editing?

He is using the CPU for video editing.

Nope, because i3 with HT cause games to use 2 fake cores, while the E7 have all 4 physical cores for the games.

Your theory also suggests an i3 is better than an entry level i5 which is not true.

Fake cores? Hyper threading is a good alternative to more cores, with atleast 50% the benefits of a real core. And as I said, most games rarely use the benefits of more than 2-3 cores. For editing, a 4930k is almost as good as a Xeon. There comes a point where the CPU isn't the bottleneck of a video editing program. Xeons are made for servers, not gaming pc's. The drawbacks of a Xeon for gaming outweigh the benefits of it for video editing

Hyper-threading is just to fully use a core,is not AMD's module technology, will only offer at most 25% of a full core.

It is the bottleneck of the video editing program and it still is,or else there will not be CUDA acceleration.

6 is almost 15,i am impressed.

Extreme editions are mostly just binned xeon so with cores fused off.

And most games do use more than 2 cores (the question is how efficiently) http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1626456

and why the hell are you comparing 15 core xeon e7s to i3s

The Xeon will probably cost $5000+ while the i3 isn't even $200

Sure the Xeon will be better in gaming but why would you spend over 20 times as much for an extra 10fps just get 3 titans and an extreme edition for gods sakes xD

I can already tell that this will be an awesome build. It will be quite the upgrade from what you said you are currently using.

Case: Phanteks Evolve X with ITX mount  cpu: Ryzen 3900X 4.35ghz all cores Motherboard: MSI X570 Unify gpu: EVGA 1070 SC  psu: Phanteks revolt x 1200W Memory: 64GB Kingston Hyper X oc'd to 3600mhz ssd: Sabrent Rocket 4.0 1TB ITX System CPU: 4670k  Motherboard: some cheap asus h87 Ram: 16gb corsair vengeance 1600mhz

Let me make this as clear as possible. An i3 is 90% of the performance of an i5 for gaming. Games don't use more than 3 cores. An i3 has the same ipc click for clock per core as the Xeon, but 30% faster per core due to clockspeeds.

Then it is ridiculous everyone is recommending an i5 instead of an i3 for gaming. Since i3 is much cheaper in the first place.Games does not use more than 3 cores is wrong,BF3 is an example. Why can it run better on a FX8350?Strange right?

Dual Cores(Intel)/Quad Cores(AMD) are near obsolescence period. They are just not enough for many applications today. They can only do the most basic stuff well.
