I mean, that ring should unscrew... In that case, just unscrew it, paint it, and then screw it back in.

Hey! New SIgnature!

I'm supposedly a person on the Internet, but you'll never know if I'm human or not ;)

The easiest would just be to mask off the entire ring around the outside but if you wanted to paint the exterior portion of the ring you would do it from the inside to not get paint inside.

Not what it looks like to me, based on the photo you posted.

Just mask off the connector so no paint gets inside basically, be creative as long as nothing gets in there and affects the electrical connection your good.

If you don't get what he's trying to tell you, I'm doubting that you should actually be painting them.

I think I get it now so I can just put a layer of masking tape above the connector can cut the shape of the ring out? I don't know how to properly mask the things off the make sure no paint gets into the connector

A second long as you stick it down so the edges are firmly in place over top of the edge you shouldn't have an issue with paint seeping down into the connector.
