Alright its a Intel Ethernet connection I2I9-v on the asus z170-E motherboard. internet speed through ethernet is stuck limited at 100 mbps no matter what I do. drivers have been uninstalled, reinstalled, updated more times than i can count. brand new ethernet cable (cat5e) and router has gigabit ports. the wifi speed I have is 200/10 but i just cant get my PC to get that speed through ethernet. been through 2 other motherboards that had this issue but worse than the current one. I can get internet at 100/10 with the port set to auto negotiate ( doesn't work on any other setting) and at random times at least once a day the internet will cut out for 20 seconds or so and then come back and work like it did before crashing. this has been going on for months and continuing the nightmare i had building this new gaming PC. Everything else works fine, just not this fucking ethernet port.

Have you checked that the ports are enabled to 1000 in the router management page?

Go to your NIC page, double click on it, and see if the speed there says 1.0Gbps or 100Mbps.Capture.PNG

If it says 1 Gbps, yet you top out at 100Mbps I have no idea what to tell you... It it says 100Mbps then either the computer, router, or cable is not capable of gigabit speeds, or configured for less.

first is it a really long run 300m+ ? how old is the ethernet if its unknown then its too old most likely cat 5 or 4 . sounds like its not in walls at all or run outside . my guess you got a nic in the wire and its auto defaulting back to the speed that will work . since you said it was on multiple MB is probably   Ethernet  cables or your switch/router
