Heya guys.
So im currently running an A8-7650K thats overclocked to 4GHz, alongside an 8GB XFX GTR XXX RX480.
I've noticed that my cpu is bottlenecking my gpu by quite a bit, but im not sure what the best upgrade would be,

Its not the best option but i currently have an asus m5a99x evo rev 2.0 and fx8350 lined up as my upgrade (its only costing me £100 from a friend, buying it new is over double that)

My question is, would that upgrade stop me from having a bottleneck, or reduce it in any way? I know it will reduce it but i want to know if anyone knows whether it'd be worth it or not.
Im open to suggestions on a better upgrade, but i dont have much money to spend at the moment, and it'd have to support DDR3 as i dont really want to be buying new DDR4 memory ontop of a cpu and mobo.

Thank ya's.

If you can live with the A8 for now, wait until ZEN is released.

If you want to spend the 100 now, upgrade to Zen when it comes out, that works too

The FX lineup is very old now (with no upgrade path) and I really wouldn't want to see you spending much more than 100 on it.

It really depends on your financial position and how urgently you need the upgrade.

(keep in mind that FX runs very hot, will need an aftermarket AM3+ cooler)

thats one of the issues i had, knowing that its such an old chip. the price seems reasonable enough to me though as buying the cpu new is around £140 and the motherboard is £120+

Ideally i want to do a proper CPU/MOBO upgrade in about 6 months, but i dont mind spending the £100 for now if i know that the system would get me through for the next few months atleast.

As for the cooling, i currently have a Corsair H55 AIO cooler, would that be enough to cool it at stock, maybe even slightly overclocked?

I have a MSI 1060 3GB with a FX6300. My processor is really only a bottle neck in games like GTA V. Might have better luck with a FX8350. Regardless of what you choose, you will see a preference increase in most games if you upgrade. Just make sure you use aftermarket cooler unless your okay with a jet engine in your computer.

This is a great video to help you make the choice yourself. I think your best bet would be to upgrade to something like a used i5, maybe 3rd or 4th gen. Or if you want to wait for Zen that would be a good option too. I wouldn't recommend anything AMD with Zen coming out so soon, Basically just a waste of money

Your H55 will be plenty enough for an 8350, I have seen an 8350 pushed to 4.4 as a conservative OC using a D14 so I'd assume the H55 should be great (silicon lottery for you eh?)
If you want the upgrade now I say go for it
Remember that Zen is around the corner and if the rumors are to be believed it will be amazing
