http://robertspaceindustries.com

signup there, though for now you need to buy a pack pledge (the cheapest ship will not allow you in the PTU)
get either : the Aurora package (45$ ish ?) or the mustagn alpha package (45$ ish)

we should get a new upate with FPS soon, and 3.0 will come. "by december"

I want to make sure you understand, it is in alpha right now, if you want to a finished game wait till release. Please don't get a package until you are satisfied you know what
you are getting into.

Yeah, star citizen is big in a way that games haven't been before really, and detailed similarly. they are doing things that other people have never attempted.

I'm sorry mate, but I wouldn't recommend even attempting it, in this case. You may be able to squeeze 10-15 FPS out of it with these specs, but its not guaranteed.

Star Citizen will be an extremely demanding game upon release. And the current alpha state is not optimized for performance at all. You need some pretty beefy hardware in order to get it to run at playable frame rates. I doubt a Q6600 and GTX460 will be able to handle even the optimized end-product, though. :(

If you like the concept, I suggest you not waste your money on pledging just yet, and instead get an upgrade. Even a relatively modest one like going to a used 2500k CPU and something like GTX 770 would be adequate. But what you have now is just way too weak, unfortunately.

It's also in very early alpha at the moment, and most of the promised features are still not playable. If you want to play this game when its actually "done," you've probably got years. Plenty of time to cobble together a better PC.

Well, if you really wanna know...

First I'll need a photo of you. Sorry, but I am very 'visual' person.

We can split the bill for dinner, but I expect you to chose a good restaurant at least. We'll see how things go from there.

I deal in shitposts and shitpost accessories.

Yeahhhh, but I'm 14. And I'm going on my class's washington d.c. trip. So I won't have money to spend on a PC for a while :(

Hopefully my brother gives me some parts from his pc when he upgrades.

That may have been funny but I'm 14.

I'll send a photo in exchange for $200

Star Citizen is a spaceship simulation game that is currently is in Alpha status since beginning in 2011 and raising over $120 MILLION US DOLLARS. Yes, you read that right. It's been in development for 6+ years. They only have an Alpha release. People have essentially donated $120 MILLION USD in anticipation of a release coming out "soon" ... "very soon" ... Alright, I'll turn off my inner cynnic now.

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/funding-goals

Now, before the die-hard Star Citizen fans send missiles to my home, hear me out: If you love this game, or are part of the "cult following" that resides around RobertSpaceIndustries, awesome for you. No really, I mean it. It's similar to my undying love for CoD4:MW1, CoD:WaW, and CoD:MW2 that will never die. Ever. I will continue to play those games until the private servers are on fire or no longer running at capacity. I compare CoD to Star Citizen in player fan base alone - I know of no other recent game with as large a following as CoD. (whether this is a good or bad thing is irrelevant here, just comparing the player base)

Star Citizen has such a healthy community that I'm sure would be able to continue on with their own game at a later date, even if they never managed to release a working game themselves. This is what you're buying into, and it's wonderful to have such a community with an undying love for a game. So @catzambia, if you're down with that, research the game, and back it!

Pre-production is part of Game Development - you can't develop something that doesn't have a concept idea.

One of my old coworkers worked for EA Vancouver, directly supporting the development of Mass Effect 1 with concept artwork and storyboarding.

The team reported to BioWare's Edmonton office, but worked out of Vancouver because of relative location to graduating art students.

Official development began in 2004, even though there was no public disclosure during the initial pre-production phases.

http://www.xboxgazette.com/interview_mass_effect_en.php

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_Effect_(video_game)#Development

Star Citzen development began in 2011 with Chris and Ortwin's Cloud Imperium Games. Chris spent $1 MILLION of his own money to start this.

Although the company was not "Incorporated" until late 2012, the idea and passion for this game has existed within Chris for a long time.

They were then able to release a demo for October 2012 to support their Kickstarter campaign, along with marketing material.

Back on topic, a game developer sinking a million of their own money creating both a new game and company is uncommon these days.

If that's not dedication to making an idea happen right there, then I don't know what is. Chris is putting his vision into this game.

All I was trying to jab at is the amount of money raised compared to other games with long development times, as seen in this post.

I suppose I was being a bit cynical toward the game in this regard, and for that, I apologize.

Although I show little interest in Star Citizen at the moment, I am confident that will change if it finally launches.

My point was to simply save OP @catzambia some time researching the facts, while also checking out how awesome a game this could be.

The sources you linked contradict themselves on when the game start getting built and the sources inside also don't look as though they have been checked on top of that the love picture done by beerforthebeergod isn't the most accurate so i wouldnt trust anything he posts unfortunately.

It's easier to say 2012 but the didn't actively start till 2013 when they finally got the Austin offices, not wanting to argue but that is confirmable if you wanted me to post my sources.
