The disk contains drivers for the motherboard.

Do like linus and toss it away like a frisbee. Download their latest drivers off the motherboard website instead.

Tbh you don't even need to do this, most of the time windows 10 will auto detect and download all necessary drivers.

Only go to the motherboard website to download stuff if something is actually still not working, such as audio, USB ports, stuff like that.

What about if his ethernet/wireless drivers aren't working and he doesn't have another PC to download from?

You guys kill me... he should at the very least keep the disk until he knows if the LAN drivers work IMO... if not he could be days away from getting his PC up and running.

Yes it's fine for the likes of you and I that have other PC/laptop/phone even to download the drivers and put them onto USB drive and install.. but everyone has to start somewhere and this poor guy could be just starting out from the question he asked about the driver disk being windows... please stop churning out this advice that could potentially stop this guy from even getting online with his new PC. Linus you started this crap :P

Yes we all know the drivers discs are at best going to contain out of date drivers... I hate them too and don't use them myself, but not everyone is organised and bothers to download the drivers before they build their new PCs like they should... I do by the way, actually have a depositroy of them on my NAS for installing through the network even as it's easier - except for the LAN drivers of course, lol... they still have to be USB driven (see what I did there) to the new PCs if windows doesn't install the drivers.

Not trying to be a dick... but why do this to an obviously new to this thing guy/girl. OK it may not be a problem 90% of the time, but what if he'd took your advice and literally thrown the disc away, snapped it and then can't install the LAN drivers?  = more trouble for him.  /rant
