Freesync monitor with nvidia gpu

NeoSk11zle
Go to solution Solved by thebrownieguy,

Works, but the freesync function will not work.

Quick question:

So is having a free sync monitor with a nvidia gpu bad, like does it work/does it require a amd gpu or its fine with a nvidia

Freesync requires an AMD card that supports it, whereas G-Sync requires an Nvidia card that supports it. No sense in wasting money on Freesync since you won't be able to utilize it. They both do the exact same thing, just each are dedicated to a specific team. If you're looking for help with less screen tear, get a display with G-Sync since you have a card from Nvidia. Fair warning, G-Sync costs a pretty penny.

That's fine then, you just won't be able to use the Freesync portion of it. Won't harm performance at all.

The technology doesn't, but it does allow manufacturers to up the price a little bit. I can find 2 monitors, both the exact same specs but one has Freesync. The one with Freesync will cost more.
