Do you have a CD/DVD/Blu-Ray drive in your PC?

Etem

I was wondering what the LTT community thinks of them. Do you use a CD, DVD, or Blu-Ray drive in your PC, and if you do, what do you use them for?

My PC (codenamed Genesis) - Corsair Air 540, i5 4690k, ASUS ROG Maximus VII Ranger, EVGA Geforce GTX 980 SC ACX 2.0, 8GB Corsair Vengeance RAM @ 1600MHz, 240GB Samsung 840 SSD, Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD, CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Evo CPU Cooler (not in case), EVGA SuperNova G2 750W PSU, Asus ROG Swift PG2789Q monitor, Logitech G502 mouse, and Corsair Vengeance K70 keyboard (brown switches)

I don't have one nor have I needed one in years. They make for great cupholders however.

I have one and don't plan on giving up on it. I find it always handy to be able to create a music or video disc as they are cheap and old systems won't read from usb (like an old tv or such). Also, some cars don't read usb yet, especially cheaper models (and some don't alloe you to change the stock radio/music player). And sometimes I do purchase physical copies of games, either because it is a present or because I do not want to download 15 gb of data every time I have to install it somewhere else...

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

I have an internal dvd drive connected, but it's sitting on my desk instead of being inside.

I have a few blu-ray/ dvd drives in my random computer boxes that aren't used as well.

Have not had one installed in years.

I have a USB2.0 external DVD burner, it doesnt make my front panel look craptastic, its super portable, can be swapped between machines in a moments notice without opening anything.

Best bet is grab an external for your CD/DVD media, and keep your case smooth like a baby's bum!

If you have 1997 7-series BMW which doesn't have SD-card reader, bluetooth and USB-port but only a CD-changer, then you still need DVD-drive on your pc to write music CD's for your car. And if anybody is wondering why I don't upgrade my car audio, that's because the car has original integrated navigation system which also controls the telephone, driving computer, auxiliary heating etc. So I can't really replace it.

Other than that, I don't really use the DVD-drive.

I have one.

Personally, unless they invent a cheaper storage method (for distribution) then I'll use that.

Of course cloud is possible, but it's less convenient and would take forever to upload and then have clients download photos.

I have a DVD drive. I want to get a Blu-ray drive because most of what I do with my drive is watch movies. I think the only time I use it otherwise is installing Windows.

Same, hence, I bought an External drive...

For your movies you can do the same, bluray external.. keeps your case front sexy

I have one, im a massive music listener and theres something i love about opening a CD case and listening to it for the first time through a proper stereo system, however once that effect has worn off i burn them onto my computer.

I use very often, usually once a week either for myself or for my family onto the media centre PC.
