GTX 1070: MSI vs. EVGA

So the MSI GTX 1070 gaming x and the EVGA GTX 1070 FTW are sold at the same price where I live (about $450) and they are both amazing cards. I'm considering to buy one of them, the MSI card Has a custom pcb and better power delivery, but the evga card gives a higher factory clock and uses the reference pcb. Which one should I get? Also is there another card that would be better than these two? I've had people try to talk me into buying the ASUS Strix but am not entirely convinced.

Here are the cards in question:

avoid the strix for warranty reasons

evga has slightly better warranty but its close enough to where I can say get the one that matches your color scheme better

and the clocks given are irrelevent now

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

Well my color scheme is close to non existent right now so either one would be just fine. Plan to add LED lighting to compliment whichever one I choose

EVGA IMO bc better color and looks (again, IMO) and a reference PCB means easier cooler swaps if you ever decide to do that

Performance wise it doesn't really matter so just buy the one that looks good to you or from the more preferred brand.

The FTW does not use a reference design. It uses an 10+2, 2x8pin connectors vs the 8+2, 8+6 pin connectors on the Gaming x. So the ftw card has a better pcb, it looks better (imo), has amazing customer service, and is actually color scheme nuetral. I would get the ftw.

Oh yeah you're right, guess I was referring to the SC one since that's the card that has the reference 1x8 pin connector. But from the looks of it I think I'll settle on the EVGA FTW

It's an amazing card.  BTW, i recommend buying it from here, declining free returns, and using the promocode shop10 to get it for less than $400.

I bought my strix 1070 from them in july for $383 when they where still really expensive everywhere else. Best thing was the no taxes, saved me an extra $35 out here in Commiefornia.

Hahaha, nice. Thanks so much for sharing with me. Save me some dough to use for other parts. Might pick up an SSD.

I have a strix (the 8G non-OC version) and it's been rock solid so far. Never goes past 62 degrees at load. The thing is massive though.

i wonder if the FTW would have been worth getting.. i have the EVGA 1070 SC and i have some suspicions that the FTW would overclock a bit better, seeing it has more power phases and additional power connector. too late to consider, since i had my SC for a few months and already did an RMA

I love myself a deal, so i like to pass them on.  Hell, I shill for jet so much on here they should pay me, lol, if I wasn't costing them money each time.  If you sign up for a new account each time you order, you can use the promo codes again, but they're only for first time buyers.  Not hard to create a new account though, and it's totally worth it.  BTW, declining free returns only means changing your mind, it's still free to return if it's doa. Good luck with the card and the build! :D
