What to do with "ugly" ram

So when I was unemployed and running an amd apu for gaming, I got two 4gb ddr3 samsung ram sticks that I migrated over to my new pc. they work fine but apparently my motherboard is limiting the speed to 1333mhz and I need to upgrade with 16gbs and four dim slots. The only problem is I want a Blue,Black, and Gold theme and the OEM green of these dims are harshing my style. Wha should I do, sell them, do they make like black plastic covers/ aftermarket heat spreaders?

New parts for reference

There are aftermarket heat spreaders, but they are hard to find. I think that linus used them in one of his builds. not sure which. maybe 7 gamers 1 CPU

I know he used them in the Ultrawide build.  They've been around for years.

Plastidip

Just take the ram out and spray plastidip on them it won't short the sticks out, and is easily removed, just peel if off it you don't like it or need to RMA the sticks.

EDIT: make sure to cover the contacts on the bottom with painter's tape so they are still exposed.

If you got a buddy that has a 3D printer you could always do that, design your own and print it

It's possible to buy waterblocks for RAN and just leave them like that as they look really nice and sleek :P

Also terribly expensive $30 for two ram sticks.

Great tips guys, I'm not building a water-cooled because I ran my iPod through the wash as a kid and got viciously beaten so I have a deathly fear of water and my most prized possessions

I think spending alittle on the cosmetics such as spreaders and new fans now and waiting for like Christmas would be the best choice

Ddr2 is the same size as ddr3. You could even add things like designs and such if you 3d print them, just make sure whatever plastic you use to print it can take at least 100C.

100C! are you mad!

that's way too much!!

more like 75C max

RAM doesn't heat up nearly as much as a CPU does. (especially new RAM like DDR3 and DDR4)

Ram can get up to 70C-80C in worst case scenarios, at least it isn't fbddr2 that can get up to 100C, but at 100C is more for just assurance because at that point the cpu woun't run and the computer will most likely even refuse to even boot.

My problem is do I trust the premade covers that I can get for $2 or spend the time, effort, and spool money on making my own that wont get rid of any heat and have the capacity to melt..........
