How do i install a modem?

So i just moved to california and i wanted to install internet here in my house. I was searching online for the best internet provider for gaming in my area and it seems to be time warner cable and i was looking at the services they offer and its pretty cheap for the speed they provide and i saw it said it they can send a technician to install everything because i have no idea how to do it or where to do it but it costs 40$ for the technician to come so i wanted to know how to do it myself to save those 40 extra bucks or is it better to call a technician to be safe?

Pick it up (or pay for delivery) and install it yourself. They have videos and guides on how to do it if you need them.

A tech may be required. It all depends if the house is currently hooked up for service and how long its been without service. i know that some installs of Comcast service require a tech, just to make sure that the line from the pole to the house is good and all service works. If they dont require then you should be able to set it up yourself. Installing Coax isnt that hard, if there was service at that house at some point, its probably pre installed. The big thing you need to consider is there should never be more than 1 splitter between the coax entering the house and the modem. I know for a fact Comcast installs a 2 way or sometimes an unbalanced 3 way spitter on the main line. If you need more connections you split it again for TV only. Modems require the best signal.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
