It's generally recomended to get the same brand, type, capacity and clock speed RAM sticks as you already have when upgrading to prevent RAM issues.

I agree with Vojta.

But if you want to try to mix RAM, first make sure all the ram modules have the same latency. Capacity and clock speed may vary, but latency must be the same. So if one is CL 10, the others must be too.

Second, when you've made sure the latency is the matching, go into your BIOS and search for any setting that will increase tolerance in RAM differences. This is found in different places on different mother boards, and some boards may even not have such an option.

Please post a picture of the labels of all the RAM-modules you have so we can see and read the specific specs of the modules.

I don't understand this. You ask about issues with low-end ram modules, but your profile tells that are rocking a 8320 BE and 8gb of Corsair RAM. So how exactly are you having an issue with the RAM?

Screenshot_2016-09-14-14-08-34.png

With a system like yours, I can't really see how you would have cheaped out on the RAM like that. And if you infact are only rocking 3 GB, you should think of upgrading to 2x4gb 1600 mhz DDR3 RAM. Those are very cheap if you buy them second hand as people are now upgrading to DDR4 and want to get rid of their old DDR3.

If it has turned on before, it will again if you put things back exactly like they were before. Don't worry. =)

remove all the ram, and try the '1x2gb corsair 1333 ram ' in one of the ram slots you know currently works.

If it doesnt turn on, either theres a problem with that memory module, or its not compatible with your motherboard.

XMP Profile (XMPP) is eXtreme Memory Performance Profile.

It's a setting in modern Motherboards UEFI (BIOS).

Essentially its a Profile that is programmed onto the memory module itself, with the timings etc...for its max speed - which will allow it to run at its max rated frequency and lowest timing (essentially the speed its advertised as) regardless of if the motherboard has to tweak the vDIMM voltages etc...to obtain that speed.

Given hes putting a mismatched module in, while it *should* just disable, its also worth switching it off if hes turned it on - incase of some sort of logic error.

I just realised it might be called something different on an AMD motherboard (XMP is the Intel name), a quick google says it might be called DOCP in the AMD BIOS.

So your RAM are both CL 9-9-9-X, so latency is not the issue here.

What I do not understand is that Windows recognizes both your sticks, and tells you have totally 6 gb of RAM, But can only use 2 giga bytes (the corsair RAM).

Jarsky is talking about settings in your BIOS. You will get there by rebooting your computer, and as soon as it starts you need to hit the correct key to get there. It will briefley tell you which key to press. If windows start to load, you have gone too far, and you need to reboot again.

There, under advanced settings, you should be able to find DOCP-settings.

It is the memory that is not working, and since the memory fails, you won't be able to post. It is not the GPU, don't worry.

But for now, try only using the Kingston 4GB in the A2 slot. Do NOT use both. If Kingston doesn't work, then only use Corsair. But 2GB might be too little to load windows though...

You seem to suffer from severe memory mis-match. I highly recommend you to go and buy some cheap 8GB Ram (2x4GB). When you buy them in pairs, they will be factory-tested to work with each other.

Just to clarify because I might miss read this: you do turn off the PC when swapping/removing stuff right?

Also you should always try 2 times atleast after booting with new config.

The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane.
