A good way to explain anything is to come up with an analogy, right?

I would like to see how you guyz would explain the individual parts of a pc. I'll start of with a simple one,

computer hardware  vs. a person

cpu - a cpu is like the brain (obviously), how quickly you can think and how well

mobo - the physical and mental stability that connects your body, like your nervous system

ram - how many tasks you can handle at once, and the severity of the task (multitasking skills)

gpu - your sexual appeal and charisma

storage - your memory, can you remember a lot but it takes you a while to recall (hdd), can you remember somethings instantly (ssd)

case - your body type and looks

psu - your diet

os - instincts

you should come up with current (or well known) hardware to compare youself too (hardware doesn't need to be compatible

my brain is like an fx 4100 with 2 cores disable running at 2Ghz

my mobo is like a z87 sabertooth (im stably stoopid)

my ram is like a single dimm of 64 mb ddr

my gpu is like intel hd graphics 5

my storage is like a 120gb 5400 rpm ide drive

my case is like a post-27039-0-18786500-1381899580.jpg

my psu is like a 12%+ 1600w pos

my os is like windows me, its slow and bad

I'd actually say RAM would be short term memory. Isn't RAM like what the CPU uses to store temporary bits before it recomputes it?

Ram is more like short term memory and drives are more like long term memory.

I like my own analogy of IOPS.. As in input output processes per second on HDDs and SSDs... As lanes on a highway.. A HDD has about 300 lanes.. An SSD has 100k lanes. The traffic moves at the same speed.. Just MORE of it when using an SSD... So it ends up finishing those processes sooner with an SSD.

I will give this a shot...

computer hardware  vs. a person

cpu - Phenom II x4, fairly good, and still relavent but, clearly obsolete by todays standards.

mobo - Some 990FX chipset, solid but no frills.

ram - 8Gbs, I can handle one big task or multiple small tasks but not too much at once.

gpu - Girlfriend is for the most part uninterested so... Onboard Graphics

storage - 1tb storage with a 60gb SSD. Great short term memory but limited to a very small smount

case - Some basic Mid-tower case... Nothing special going on here... 6'0 180lbs

psu - uhhh.... Rosewell 1.5kw... Shit will burn and ruin everything shortly...

os - MAC OSX... A great idea that was poorly implemented..

What do you guys got?

Also, don't argue with the OP. I do agree his standards are a bit off but, he made them and we must follow!

I don't mean to brag but I'm running quad Titans in SLI. Huh, I guess that is bragging.

I should buy a cowboy hat.

Guess you could spare a few then :) You don't need 4 ;)
