Does PCI Express 2.1 x16 work with older PCI ?(Upgrade ram and gpu )

Hello , i would like to upgrade the ram and replace the gpu on a pc that has this mobo : https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/K9A2GM_V2.html#hero-specification

Now for ram im between :

if you please suggest me which is better

Also im replacing the gpu , this computer is only for watching videos , browsing and maybe google earth  , so i saw this one : https://www.amazon.co.uk/XFX-HD-545X-ZCH2-Graphics-Radeon-Memory/dp/B004TCM634/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1473583933&sr=1-1

 

But the problem is that im not sure if it will work with my mobo since its PCI Express 2.1 x16

it'll work, the question is if you should.

 

what's the list of specs you have at the moment, and what's the reason you're upgrading this relic?
