High Idle Temps

Recently I have been reading articles on overclocking an AMD HD7950 and I have noticed that most other HD7950's manage to get lower idle temps then mine which are usually at 52C.As a result i have cleaned as much of my GPU without opening it and i managed to get the same temps.Could this problem be due the necessity to replace the thermal paste or some thing stuck between the heat sink? I want to be able to keep this Graphics card running for another year or two.

could there something else that could cause higher idles temps on the core aside from the thermal paste?

maybe you are in a warmer environment or so xP

If you're formally an engineer, avoid responsibility. That's what senior engineers get paid for.

What are your load temps?

They are around 80C

It's most likely the fan curve, you can change it if you want to so the fan(s) run at higher speeds when idling.

I already have a custom fan curve

That's probably why the idle temps are high then.

Oh,ok do you think that this fan curve will provide better temps?

Having a different cooler, fan curve, ambient temps, voltage settings, or load at idle can make your card temps different from others.

I have tried tried doing a custom fan curve(evidently it needs some work), I have also lowered to voltage from 1125mv to 950mv

Idling at 50c isn't going to hurt it, as long as the load temps are good, you should be okay.

It seems to have lowered the load temps by about 5C

Is the card idling at that clock? Are you one multi-monitor?
