RAMdisk or no RAMdisk

If you have to ask, the answer is probably no.

 

Unless you have something which would benefit from MUCH faster access times -- again if this was the case you would know it -- a RAMDisk is literally pointless.

[10GB of RAM] would barely fit much since your OS needs 4GB and programs may need 1-2GB. After that you may have a RAM disk of 5GB which will barely hold a game or video project.

So, you can't store the data long term, so booting an OS from a ramdisk isn't a thing and other programs already load fast enough on SSD, plus you'd have to send all the data to the ram disk each boost, hence it's pointless.

I have 32 GB of ram, even then when I made a ram cache of 16GB the only programs that worked noticeably faster were office programs, but those ones also glitched really hard when saves coincided with write back to disk moments (which now that word basically autosaves continuously was a huge issue).
