Hi.

My Gaming PC is getting full of clutter, with my 1TB drive having 320ish GB left and my 120GB SSD having 20GB free.

I have added another SSD to the build, but I've noticed a slower boot time, and if I reinstall Windows, I'll RAID 0 two SSDs together, but I want to put it off until I can afford a 5TB external HDD for my backups.

My question is: should I reinstall? Or how often is too often almost to reinstall, or how often should you reinstall Windows?

Thanks, Alpha.

Fresh install when it becomes unbearably slow or something within Windows just breaks. My last install on my desktop lasted less than this summer because Explorer just kept crashing for no reason since installing. My laptop installation lasted one semester for unknown reasons. Was just slow as balls.

You should reinstall and not do raid 0.

Usually you want to clean install every few years, but also every time you change a motherboard, upgrade to a new OS version, or want to move your OS to another drive.

RAID0 was just a huge pile of problems and instability for me.

How often you should reinstall? Well with Windows 10, I don't think you should worry about that.

I was doing clean windows install every year, but since wondows 10 came out I haven't done it even one time. My PC just seems to be working perfect, just like after fresh install :)

Me, I would reinstall it. Just backup the important things and reformat everything. **(Be sure to have your windows serial key! If you don't some software can extract it for you!)**

I don't see any reason not to start from zero from time to time. On my side I always saw some really good performance boost in boot time etc after a clean install. (I take care of my PC I don't use shaddy downloads or install a ton of bloat and still I see a big difference.)

Nothing will make you gain speed like a fresh install imo, but still i can suggest to watch this video if you don't want or don't have time right now to reinstall everything but still want to get a bit of speed.

I'm pretty sure this could come in handy in your case :)
