Door sensors

So my parents just decided to not allowing me to play any game at any time at all since I got 3.8 as my GPA last year..... my desktop is located in an external room separated  from my house, so I only need something to notify me when the main door of my house is opened. I was looking for a door sensor with a LED. Any of you have suggestions?

This is hilarious because it'll never really work, but basically all you do is wire a battery to an led but cut the cable on the positive end where the door is and only let the two ends touch when the door is closed. Light goes out, door is open.

Your parents are F ing A holes. 3.8, They should be lucky you got a 3.0. Most kids dont do that well in school. What, they expecting you to get accepted to Harvard? This is a situation of when you turn 18, move the hell out of there. Tell them to go pound sand. My mom told me when I entered Middle School that homework and shit was my responsibility. She would not ask me about home work and stuff. I did it all on my own. You cant expect some one to get a 4.0, most people are just not going to deliver. With that GPA, you should have no issues getting in to a decent college too, thats assuming you live in the US.

Bill Gates dropped out of High School and look at him. He is the richest person in the world. Not saying you should drop out. But 3.0 or higher to me is acceptable.
