Why they make such cards?

I wonder, why they make cards like 610 with 2gb vrams? These cards ain't for gaming anyway, so why they need to have 2gb?

Multi monitors with high res for media consumption or just HTPC in general. I found a GT 640 with 4 GB, lol.

Also: if your CPU doesn't have an integrated graphics solution. Why bother with such a CPU then? Dunno, maybe you got it for cheap.

Theres usually alot of room on the pcb on low end cards so they might aswell put more vram on, thats why the titan has 6gb because there was room

In my opinion 2gb is becoming the minimum at 1080p for decent gaming. My gtx 580 had 1.5gb and its always been 'just' enough for what i wanted to do but now is not enough. I gamed at 1080p, now 1200p (no real difference) and i would really recommend at least 2gb because new aaa titles kill 1.5gb. I think nvidia are tight with vram so that u have to upgrade or feel u need to. They always put The least they can get away with and it annoys me. At least amd cover that base a bit better. Like the 690, super expensive card, only 2gbs vram, i wouldnt buy it even if it went down to £500
