GTX 960 STRIX or GTX 960 4GB?

MonsterHunter280
Go to solution Solved by Shoob,

The Sapphire RX 470 4GB Nitro+ is your best bet for a sub-200 GPU. Currently at £189 on OCUK.

The MSI version is also a good choice, it's quieter, but comes with a bit slower VRAM.

Whether 3GB VRAM is enough for the 1060 is enough is debatable, in my opinion it's not since a lot of the current AAA titles can't be played with very high textures due to VRAM limitation, despite the GPU being powerful enough. The RX 470 (especially the Nitro model with faster VRAM) performs close to an RX 480 4GB. It might be a bit slower than the 1060 3GB in most DX11 games, but it's a much more balanced GPU.

Get a RX470/RX480 4GB/1060 3GB card as they all cost more or less as much as your 960 :P

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

I would but my budget for a Graphics card is a max of 200 Pounds and the lowest I've seen an RX 480 go is 230 Pounds. That and there are none in stock anywhere but Amazon :P

RX470? You've also not looked at the prices of a RX480 4GB then...

Cheapest RX470:

OCuk for the RX470 reference cooler

Cheapest RX480: (was 200 from OCuk a week ago before they immediately ran out of stock so they raised the price :/)

OCuk

Scan (Doesn't include 10 quid shipping)

1060 3GB prices:

OCuk again :D

...you didn't know about scan or OCuk? Take it as you don't know ebuyer exists as well or CCL or...I'm just ranting :P

But in seriousness, Scan, OCUK and Ebuyer as probably the 3 biggest PC hardware sites in the UK and you didn't know...I guess Amazon prime for the win :D

Wat

I had a £425 MSI godlike mobo die in just a few months, and the replacment was also dead.

Searched their forums and its a widespread issues, loads of currwnt MSI mobos dying fast with the exact same error codes.

And then their newest GPUs are also failing.

They have shit quality controll, also ofer a month of emailing thwir tech support and still they have no answer for why it is happening.

But their motherboards too. I posted the proof in that thread.

Well yea, the 960 WAS fine, but ONLY if it was built BEFORE the current MSI hardware, because they are now using faulty stuff on their latest mobos and GPUs.

Look on their forums and search for dead stuff like I did.
