$1100, or you can get the older, better overclocking 5960x for $1015.

Knock $100 off if you live near a microcenter.

Holy crap. I am guessing Zen will cost $600 at the very least?

Has AMD ever competed with Intel on extreme performance procs. such as this?

Yes. And when they did (and even when they did compete) they were priced competitively, so even $600 would be way to low if it competes with a 6900k.

But AMD is also planning on releasing mainstream versions of Zen, so not all Zen CPUs will be super expensive (the quad core alternative should be similar to an i5/i7 in terms of price).

Why?

They're the best thing ever!

And my RGB audio is a superb idea, even though users will have a real difficult time, figuring which hole to plug in their speakers.

It's the latest fad to add RGB to literally everything, and honestly, I find it gaudy and stupid.

RGB lighting is good in certain aspects, like internal case lighting LED strips, and case fans, so you can match colours in a build.

But putting RGB on keyboards and mice and every little thing is just so annoying. It's part of the "gamer aesthetic", which I also hate. Clean, professional, good looking. Those are things I like. Not large plasticy aggressive with lots of angles and edges and RGB just because.

Yeah, I agree too much RGB is crap. A bit is okay, like what Asus did with their X99 refresh boards. Their new skylake ones, even the H110 chipset has those lighting effects on them. No RGB, just a breathing audio path led, that won't turn off, when the computer is shutdown.
