Review this build please

teagansalter

Hi guys,

i just need this reviewed before I have my friend pay for this and I assemble it

feel free to suggest any changes, and if something is going to look ugly when I finish it please let me know

P.S. Would anyone recommend I pick up some black sleeved cables from cable mod? http://pcpartpicker.com/list/Nxrqpb

imo go h100i (or whatever version of thge h100 they are on) or dont bother with an AIO liquid cooler, also do 2 8gb sticks rather then 4,  using all your ram slots can potentially make them run at a lower speed, get corsair rm series PSU if you can.

May I ask why your not going with Windows 10 as the OS? Also, why not go with a 500GB SSD instead of the HDD?

Windows 8 is 6 bucks cheaper and there's a free 10 upgrade so. And my friend has a hardcore steam game library so I'm just getting enough right now, plus he's not really concerned on startup speed

i would recommend getting a better motherboard if you plan getting a watercoller for your cpu. the b150 socket isnt really meant for overclocking. also if at all possible get an ssd boot drive because it makes a night and day difference for the speed of the computer.

This Intel cpu can't overclock anyway, and is ssd just startup or can I have a ssd and a hhd and how does that work?

You may be able to save a little money if you use less RAM sticks and just go with two 8 GB sticks. More RAM sticks can sometimes be slightly more expensive, even if it's from the same brand and has the same capacity.

The i5-6600K is a good CPU, though unless you're going for aesthetics, liquid cooling is a bit OP if you're not going to overclock (you're getting a B150 board). Air cooling can be cheaper and less prone to failure.

Yeah it can, actually. The i5-6600K is unlocked.

You can use the SSD and HDD at the same time. Also all Unlocked or K-series CPUs can overclock so the 6600K can overclock.

then just get an evo 212 cooler you dont need liquid cooler if you cant oc. and yes you can both. you just start with the ssd hooked up install windows and plug in the harddrive after to ensure you put the os on the ssd.

the upgrade is no longer free also the ssd makes the operating system just run faster its not just startup. any time the operating system has to load anything the pc will slow down compared to a pc with an ssd bootdrive.
