You can define "Active Hours", and under Advanced Options, if you have the Pro edition of Windows, you can Differ feature Update. This only differs non security  updated up to 3 months, but the idea that I am suggesting, is to use this, to just restart the system when you can.

You can work with both. What I do, is that when I can restart my system, I check for updates, and use Differ feature update and define my active hours so that it doesnt' restart while I work.

Yeah, I tried adjusting the Active hours from 8AM to 8AM but that didn't work :P

LOL, yea Microsoft thought of that sadly.

This particular update was released the 2nd, so it has been a while already.

I just restarted to update, I guess that's one good thing about having an SSD, you don't have to wait so long for updates :P

Switch to linux or windows 7 or windows 10 ent ltsb

I have Ubuntu GNOME in a VM and I love it but it's easier to just launch Steam than it is to shut down Ubuntu, boot up Windows, and then open Steam.

You can block the updates through outside tools or your firewall, then re-enable when you want to update, though it may be a pain to setup well.
