PC Running Off A Generator?

So i have been thinking of ways build a new PC with low wattage requirements (under 200W) while having some power to it. Now that i have planned out a good amount of the build, now another idea has come, what if i plugged this into a generator and make it that much more mobile (Camping anyone?). Now i am aware this is mainly a PC a somewhat PC tech related forum, however linus does not seem to have a "linusgeneratortips" so here i am.

 

Question Starts Here.

With that being said, is there a generator that would even work with this idea? Let alone being rechargeable, and possibly being able to be fueled by gasoline as well? Hand powered? (multiple ways to get power).

a generator will work. Laptops are much lower power id get one for this

Your much better off getting a lead acid battery, a inverter and a laptop. You can game for 20+ hours off that for about 200 for bat+ inverter

A gas generator definitely could power it also a human riding a bike could too. Not while it's running but into a battery as the electricity coming out would be too instable.

Yeah, as many people have said, get something to stabilize the flow of electricity. A battery would also probably do you well, in case you have to shut of the generator but don't want to shut down the PC.

Your much better off getting a lead acid battery, a inverter and a laptop. You can game for 20+ hours off that for about 200 for bat+ inverter

Battery would be dead, but you can recharge it. If you camping of something you can buy solarpanels and use that if you want(about 300 for about 90-150w of solarpanels to charge the batterys, so about 4-5 hours of gaming everynight on a lowpower laptop)

This is where the idea of charging the generator with a hand crank or something had some similarities. A bicycle would be a bit more bulky but would work too. And Thank You for the graph.

I was thinking about getting a battery that would go with the PC in case i shut off the generator, a battery to go with the PC, that goes with the generator, that goes with me to where i go... now that just spells mobility.

A ups is the lazy solution to this. You can get used one cheap. I bough a 600va model for 25 bucks at a electronics surplus shop.

I wouldn't recommend bringing a pc while camping because of power issues, traveling issues, and dealing with the natural elements if you are doing tent camping, or just using a tarp and sticks.

Oh i fully agree. This was a more theory based idea and is still in the works to even possibly happen let alone anytime soon.

My Honda 3000 watt inverter generator provides cleaner power than my local utility does, checked both with a scope and the generator puts out exactly 120v @60Hz.
