an xbox is worth second hand about 50 bucks, but the 8350 should do the job. just get a decent mobo, you dont need an ROG board, but dont get an m-atx mobo

wrong a second hand xbox on craigslist can go for $120 depending on condition.

Hi all,

So i may be getting my girlfriends little brother to sell his xbox to fund a gaming PC. So now i'm looking for a CPU that should be good to handle all the next gen games for 2 years or so. I'll put all the options in the poll. No overclocking will be done as it will stretch the budget too far with coolers, motherboard etc.

Thanks :)

8320 no need to get an 8350 you can probably hit 4.3 even by lowering the stock voltage, on mine I took off .0500 from my vcore and I have a stable oc to 4.3 under stock voltage, so you can do that with the stock cooler for any budget the 8320 is THE best decision right now

I would just like to point out that the more cores arguement for this is completely invalid as a 4670-4770 both have the same amount of cores.

The extra frames would be provided by the extra threads and by extension the unlocked hyperthreading the i7 provides. Technically if the i5 had them unlocked the performance would be the same between both. SO theoretically an 8350 would make more sense if the 'more cores=better' idea is being said here.

*Noflamewarpls.

I just forgot that there where i7s with 4 cores, i always see them with 6cores and 8cores with HT.

my mistake.

I would say an AMD eight core processor in this case represents a better value, an FX 8350 costs the same as an i5 4570 but it's unlocked so you can overclock, motherboards on the AMD side are usually more feature-full than their equivalently priced Intel ones, so you're getting a better value there as well.
The FX 8350 achieves similar performance to the i7s in BF4 so you're getting better gaming performance out of it on next-gen games

https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/61740-bf4-beta-benchmarks-released-amd-takes-cpu-performance-crown/.

Mantle will bring native eight core support which will improve CPU performance even further, so that's a plus.
The 8350 is also a better performer in CPU intensive tasks like compression, game streaming, video editing & rendering.
You can also increase the amount of savings by going with the less expensive FX 8320, which usually overclocks pretty close to what you'd get with an FX 8350.

http://www.computerlounge.co.nz/components/componentview.asp?partid=19858 if i were to go AMD this would be the only board i can afford. I dont know if it is good for overclocking or not. With my own RIG i just went all out and got what i knew was good but in this case i have to be careful as i dont have much money to do the build

This is a good board especially since Gigabyte released the latest revision with improved VRM cooling & the black PCB.

Be okay for some overclocking then?
