$1000CAD Budget Gaming Rig

This is the build I'm going for. It's going to be used for playing games like Farcry, Assassins creed, CSGO, Bioshock, etc.

Any bottlenecks in my system, parts I should switch out for better performance at a similar price?

Different PSU, I know that's a green unit CX. If you're getting a 6500, why are you pairing it with a 750ti?

I used the 480 in this case. Feel free to switch it to a 1060 or something. Price is with 10% tax.

Don't get the cooler (you ain't overclocking, stock is fine) and use the extra cash for a 960.

Decided to keep the cooler cause I hear the stock coolers are trash and switched out my GTX 750 for this one: MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V Video Card  ($369.99 @ NCIX)

Any reason I should get a 960 instead?

Apologies in advance but I'm a total noob..so what's wrong with the PSU? Any reason I shouldn't pair 6500 with 750ti..I mean aren't the ti's faster than the non ti's?

if you can afford 970 then go for it. but with 370 cad, can you get a rx480? if so rx480 is a better choice. If you dont have enough budget then you may consider gtx960/r9 380.

yes ti is faster than non ti but 750ti is a really old card, it wont last very long. its probly suitable for 720p 60fps high setting gaming. The cxm line is fine, if you dont overclock you dont need to worry abt it tat much. the cxm line use not so good electrical parts so may not perform well under load, but your build wont pressure the psu tat much.

PSU is the Green old CX series, of which are poor quality and should not be used for gaming builds. The newer CXM line has a grey sticker on it to differentiate itself, and is of much higher quality. As for the 750ti, it's stronger than it's 750 counterpart. A R9 270/760 will do much better. And with the 480/1060, the 750ti is pretty much not worth it in the slightest.

Cool thanks. I swapped my SP550 with your S511 to save a couple bucks..not sure if one is better than the other cause as far as I can tell they have the exact same specs

I don't know much about the S511, but it seems to be the best SSD deal in all of Canada at the moment.

They new 'Grey' units are so much better than the old green ones. It's definitely the right decision.

Also, I daresay my build is a lot better balanced than the combination of a powerful Core i5 6500 and a weak GTX 750 Ti. You aren't going to hit even 60FPS at low settings at 1080p with a 750 Ti. However, you'll be able to hit 60FPS at medium-high with a 380.
