Looking for a laptop at around that price. Won't be doing much gaming, I'll be using it for school and everyday computing. I want this model. Does anyone have experience with these laptops?

Avoid Acer. Bad support, bad build quality, bad cooling.

Holy shit man, you got nearly 30,000 posts.

Back on topic: Id say look at Lenovo. Both I and my mom have Lenovo laptops. The only negative I have with them, is the White list wireless cards in the BIOS. Which makes upgrading the internal Wireless card impossible unless you use a hacked BIOS.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

According to 2016 ratings, Dell is better than Lenovo.  Also, Lenovo isn't the number one PC (well laptop, since we are in a thread about laptops) manufacture, Apple still has that (according to ratings)

But back to OP.  According to reviews I've seen on the Acer e15, it's a solid laptop.  Yes there are better laptops, but you are going for the one with a 940MX, you'll be hard pressed to find a better deal for that price.

Here's a review on it by the YouTuber, Joker Productions.

I could give two shits about that chart. I would never buy Apple or Dell period. To me they dont even exist. I hate Apple because they are Apple. I hate Dell because my sister bought an expensive XPS that had 3 mother board replacements then finally they replaced the machine entirely and the mother board went out in that machine. So Dell in my opinion is junk. Although Id consider ASUS, I hear horror stories about their customer service on places like NewEgg. I stand behind my recommendation of Lenovo. Now this is just my opinion, your entitled to yours. But you wont change mine.

Nice rant, but no need to be hostile.

I was simply trying to lay everything out there, unbiased, so OP could better make a decision.

You like Lenovo, that's your opinion.  No one is trying to change your opinion.

Just gonna need to step in here.

1. How the F can asus tech support score that high? They are just so stupid.

2. How can Asus score so high in warranty? They are assholes and they are also lazy.

3. Dell has better consumer options than lenovo for the most part, I am not saying all of Dells laptops are better than Lenovo laptop, because that would be a lie.

4. Lenovo's normal people support is okay/good nothing special

5. How can Apple score so high in innovation? They DON'T innovate at all, they steal and said that they made it. So that is BS, they have used the same type of shell/design for who knows how long, they keep adding things that can be found in Windows or Linux all the time and getting praise for it... The last "big" inovation I found on a Apple product was the harddrive in the iphone 6 I think it was, it was a lot faster than what could be found in other phones, so nice job Apple, I really like that.

6. Software on a asus and Dell and Lenovo is about the same and from my experiance, Lenovo's seems to be more stable.

7. Apple warranty is hit or miss depending on if you buy that thingy they sell and who you talk to.

8. Lenovo business warranty is the best thing ever 24 hour repair, they come out to you..

9. The same goes for Lenovo business support 12/10

10. This list is mostly just BS, it is mainly focused on what I like to call pleb laptops aka normal laptops, not business laptops, they don't seems to take any business grade laptops into account.

11. What about the keyboard? That is kinda important when you look at laptops...

12. Maybe this is just in Denmark, but every single Apple support idiot I have talked to have been rude and talked to me like I didn't know jack shit about laptops and then, because I am a little mad at Apple I just had to put those people in place and teach them a thing or two and then go on to talk to their "boss".

What do I know about laptops you ask? Oh well you see I fix them and see a lot of problems that reviews don't see in their short ussage. I also talk alot to different support people.

Yes my pick is the Lenovo logo, but I only have it because I like their slogan "for those who do" I love that slogan.

I strongly recommend staying away from Acer.

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

1) Your personal experience?  Or numerous tests on numerous different scenarios and products?  I've only ever had to call them once, and they did a good job.

2) I don't know, I've never once used a warranty.

3) Dell has some better laptops than Lenovo, and vice versa.  Just Dell has a much better selection for consumers, which in turn, is better for consumers.

4) Don't know, refuse to buy a Lenovo after they got caught putting spyware on customers' laptops.

5) Battery life, design (which is arguably, subjective), OS (again, subjective).

6) I've only ever used one Lenovo product, it wasn't the best experience ever.  I've owned several Dells and Asus' laptops and never had any issues.

7) Apple's warranty isn't hit or miss.  You don't have to buy AppleCare.  You get 1 year of 'free' AppleCare, you can then buy an additional three (I think, it might be two) years.  Meaning, for one full year, you have AppleCare.  Either way, they go through with it.

8) Never used Lenovo's business support, see point 4.

9) Seems saying they rate 12/10 makes you look fanboyish.

10)  The average consumer isn't either looking for, or don't need a business grade laptop.  Calling it pleb because it's not business grade is a very inaccurate description.

11) Arguably yes, but at the same time, many others don't care.  (You'd be surprised)

12) Seems like it's just Denmark.  It's not like that in the States anyways.

Good for you?  I fix laptops too.  I don't just talk to support people, I have a cert in it.  Doesn't make me an industry expert, I know, but still.

I assumed, from your logo and your sig, you were just a Lenovo fanboy.  Also, in recent years Acer has seemed to get their shit into gear.  I'm not saying buy everything Acer, but it's okay to buy the e15, it's not going to explode on you once you take it out the box.

1. About 12 calls with them, some with the same product, some with a different product.

2. They seem to be more nice than other companies that is about it, the service is a bit lower than Dell.

3. Yep

4. HP and Dell also had that, Intel wants to put a back door into their software, so every single Intel laptop would have it. It was also ONLY consumer laptops, not ThinkPads

5. Battery life, Nope some ThinkPads has better battery life, my T420s was beating MacBooks when it was new and the new X260 and T460s are running circles around them, design it is the same as allways and that is not innovating, innovating is when you bring something to marked that has never been seen before and I have not seen Apple do that expect the fast flash on their Phones and well the weird ass keyboard the MacBook 12 has

6. Well we all have bad luck, I have also used Asus and Dell, I have had bad personal experience with them (Nothing to do with me repairing laptops, this is from before I started doing that)

7. Oh yes it is here in Denmark and by law, they NEED to give atleast 2 years of warranty...

8. They are great, just like dell Latitudes are great and HP Elitebooks are great.

9. I would say the same about any business laptop, because it is so good, you rarely have any problems with them or any down time with your laptop or desktop for that matter

10. I call it pleb, because I have fixed way to many normal laptops to think that they are worth anything for people who are on the go often. The average young consumer just wants their laptop to look nice and don't need like a quad core and a dGPU and they end up spending like 1500$ on a laptop, I would rather have gotten a business grade laptop then, because it will be build better and their support is just soooooo good.

11. the people who are going to type a lot should care about the keyboard and most people and reviews seem to think that Lenovo's accutype is the best thing ever and it only gets better on ThinkPad's, I am a bit sad, because they changde the layout with the T430 and I like the older layout that the T420s has, because it is really nice for when you code and such

12. Oh well that is good then

No I am not a fanboy, did you not read what I just said before, I like their slogan that is it and if I follow that logic then if I said that I had the top model of some asus laptop then I would be a Asus fanboy? It is just the same as people saying their specs of a PC, you would not go and call them fanboys if their system was mainly two brands and well most people know jack shit about laptops on this forum so they just see that and think huh old peice of shit and think that I should not advice about laptops, because I use such a old laptop, untill I tell them what is up (yes some people has said that I should not advice with laptops because I use a old T420s). Also if you see my post history you can see that I often recommend other things than Lenovo laptops when I feel like going on this sub forum.

It is also against the rules on this forum to call people fanboys, I don't really care and I am not goint to report you, just a heads up.

Yes Acer has gotten better, but they are still bad.

I'm on my phone, so I won't be doing the number thing.

First, I wasn't calling you a fanboy, I was saying I assumed you were, before you told me the reasoning behind your profile pic, etc.  (Thanks for not reporting it anyways, and the heads up).  So sorry for the misunderstanding on that.

As for pleb laptops, I don't think it's fair to do that.  You have $150 to like $1000 for "pleb" laptops, and it's all contingent on how much you spend.

As for keyboards, I know my 7559 doesn't have the best thing in the world, but it's usable.  I look more as for how much raw specs and power I can get for my budget bracket and buy that.  The 7559 had that at $750.  (My budget was $800 at most, before tax)

As for your point on th young consumer, yes, if they are going to spend that much on a laptop without dedicated gpu, they better get a business grade laptop, that I can agree on.  But if they are going to get something in the $500 range, that's a different story.

As for warranty and such, didn't know all of them did that.  (I also focus more on consumer/gaming laptops over business laptops though)

I did use to own an HP elitebook though, thing was built like a damn tank, that's for sure.

Also didn't know Denmark required a two year warranty.  It does suck that Apple treats you guys the way they do.  (Especially with how awesome their service is in the states.)

But if they are going to get something in the $500 range, that's a different story.

Man. I could get so much with 500 in the US. Even living in Canada it's so hard to get good deals especially since most of the good stuff is on US ebay and US outlet. The shipping + import taxes along with the possibility of returns on anything make purchasing from the US a really difficult task.

Oh yeah, the consumer end (lower than $1000) has really gotten quite a bit better in recent years.  Sure, it doesn't amount to the build quality of business grade laptops, or high end gaming laptops, but you are getting a lot more for your money.

As for import fees.  The only time I got handled on importing something is when I bought the Ashensbox from the UK.
