AMD Radeon R9 290X and R9 290 European pricing unveiled

Mattriz

Are you ready for some big news?

MSI is already sending out their pricing list to retailers for the Radeon R9 and R7 series. You might have stumbled upon an information that stores will begin selling new cards this Friday, and this is the list that is given to them:

post-21783-0-74188100-1381261629.png

MSI Radeon R9 and R7 pricing Model Product Code Price MSI Radeon R9 290X R9-290X-4GD5 649 EUR MSI Radeon R9 290 R9-290-4GD5 519 EUR MSI Radeon R9 280X Gaming R9-280X-Gaming 279 EUR MSI Radeon R9 270X Hawk R9-270X-Hawk 219 EUR MSI Radeon R9 270X Gaming R9-270X-Gaming 199 EUR MSI Radeon R7 260X OC R7-260X-OC-2GD5 129 EUR MSI Radeon R7 250 R7-250-OC-1GD5 95 EUR

So you are probably wondering how accurate this is. I cannot say this is 100% final pricing (even the reviewers will tell you that AMD hasn’t really shared this information with them), but this is the most accurate data you can currently get. Plus, this is the data that is being sent to the retailers, so to those who actually sell these cards. The US pricing should be very similar, only the currency is different. That said the R9 290X should cost 649 USD and R9 290 around 519 (maybe even 499 USD).

The winter is coming

If you were afraid that you won’t afford this card then don’t be. In Montreal NVIDIA will be showing something that may change the pricing in high-end segment on both sides. It’s for gamers and it’s not ONLY a GPU (but more information later).

Was the price announced for the N.A R9-290X? It's probably something like 649 USD, they like to change the currency unit but keep the number lol :P

(well, I mean the N.A price, not some sort of N.A version)

Eight. Hundred. Eighty. US. Dollars.

Goodbye AMD.

But seriously, it's expensive. And yes, I know it won't cost that much here.

I know it is not going to cost so much in the US, and that EU taxes are included... It was a joke calling on the expensiveness of parts in EU.

Did a quick conversion for the cards using 1EUR=1.36USD just to help. I am not saying the prices will be this, just a quick reference to US people.

290x = $882usd

290 = $705usd

280x gaming = $379usd

270x hawk = $297usd

270x gaming = $270usd

260x = $175usd

250 = $130usd

That means there is a GPU ! TITAN ULTRA PLES.

£547 pretty much what I was expecting, was hoping for £450 though. Might have to save for another couple weeks.

If it's 649€ in Europe, then it's gonna be 700$ in USA.

I hate how all the hardware is much more expensive than it should be.

You can get some serious GTX 780s for 580€ so why should I take the AMD route? Hell, two 7970/r9 280x (9870) cost the same and perform better.

I’m not getting my info anywhere, but, from personal experience, final price in US$ tends to be exactly the same as price in EU€.
For instance, the xbox one, ps4, iphone 5 are all 1:1. Though there are always exceptions.

Euro is worth more than the dollar, but, I'm guessing the imports/taxes/etc...

Anyway, like I said, at this price range, it should be exactly the same.

Prices in Europe doesn't convert here correctly.  Their 280X Gaming is already set at 319.99 USD not 379.99 USD.  I'd expect to see the 290X around 649.99

Well shit...

Three different stores here in Sweden got the 290X listed, and all of them want 9,999 SEK (1145 euro / 1556 USD) for it... 1556 dollars!!!

Anyway I am so far disappointed with the 200 series. Just rebranded cards...

The EU prices seems to be = <US price in dollars> * 0.9 or something along those lines. That means that we can expect the 290X to be ~670-700 dollars. If it manages to trade blows with the Titan then it's good, but I will be disappointed if it's that price and not as powerful as the Titan.

why always talk about the titan?

the 780 performs the same and cost 650$.

if amd release their card for anything higher than that it wont sell.

if they want to get better perf/price it ll have to sell for less.

Anything I write is just a comment, take is as such, there is no guarantees associated with anything I say.

The prices won't be the same here obviously, but the ratios between the prices likely will be.

If the 280X costs 300 US dollars here, and the 290X costs double what the 280X costs in Europe, then the logical conclusion is that the 290X will cost around 600 US dollars.
