Requirements for Adobe Suite

Hi guys,

I'm planning on building a desktop for using adobe suite programs mainly photoshop and illustrator. I've had experience building a gaming desktop but I'm not sure what to focus my resources on for this kind of build. Should I spend the most on graphics card or CPU? How much RAM should I put and SSD vs. HDD?

pretty much equal, but a good gpu is still a better option than an i7 vs i5.

an SSD is VERY, VERY helpfull, even just a 128gb is fine.

whats your budget ?

I currently have a i7 4790k + 780, and honestly its overkill for adobe products (PS and AI don't require much gpu power, unless you're like me and render 4k brushed aluminium into vectors at high rez..) and even then.

a ssd for currently used files and programs will accelerate pretty much everything by a lot, then use a hdd for backup of unused / closed projects. (prefferably 2 of them in raid 1.)

I reccomend you use a 4690k for a cpu, its cheaper and you don't need a 6600 serie. it won't change anything.

Do you plan on gaming with the PC as well?

Here's some key tips trying to build CPU intensive work,

Intel i7 (more cores, hyper threading)

SSD for rendering and application

HDD for large file storage

16GB, the more the merrier for application intensive work

Most will debate rather you should go Workstation GPU or Gaming GPU. In this case, since you're only doing Adobe Suite, Photoshop, and Illustrator... I think going with a gaming GPU would be ideal since it's less expensive.

What? No.

i7 is better option than going a more expensive GPU route.

it depends a lot on the program you use.

not for photoshop or illustrator as far as I can see.

hyperthreading won't do much for rendering. iv used a 4690 and a 4790 and there is virtually no difference.

(xept for 130$ tho)
