[Rumour] Nvidia GTX 1060M and 1070M to bring desktop class GTX 1060 & 1070 performance to notebooks.

If rumors are to be believed Nvidia is working up some tricks to make GTX 1060M and 1070M have similar hardware to the GTX 1060 and GTX 1070 respectively.

 

I've made a table of the known information and rumored information.

 

The red highlights previous generation and green is the new generation. mobile GTX series. The White is the desktop equivalent.

 

 

Unfortunately, the memory bandwidth is going to suffer when NVIDIA will allow manufacturers to place its Pascal GPUs inside notebooks. Regardless, this removal is not going to limit gamers from cranking up every potential visual setting in upcoming games. From what we have seen from the leaked benchmarks of the

mobile version of GTX 1060, there is going to be very little performance that is sacrificed, which will work out quite well in our favor.

 

I don't get it. How did they shave off so many watts using just 100Mhz lower clocks unless the clock speeds really influence power consumption that badly.

Not only that but the performance difference between a 960M and a 1060M will be practically double or triple performance.

I would guess they are only including the TDP of the GPU die itself, because GDDR5 at 8Ghz is probably consuming a crapload of power on the desktop 1060 and 1070. Chances are the 1060M and 1070M are using different memory, and the memory isn't included in the TDP.

I'm guessing shaving off 100Mhz did cut down some power. Maybe it'll use 7GHz GDDR5 instead......

Nope. Just you're usual Nvidia GPU RIP OFF Tray Pricing. Meaning $249 or 299 per GTX 1060M for OEMs and $379 per GTX 1070M for OEMs.

Apple dont make the chip, its just whatever is supplied, as long as its 80%+ the performance id be happy

That's probably gonna kill battery life, 150W gpu. Mobile version is probably around 75W but that's still pretty high. I mean it's expected for a gaming laptop but not so sure about the slim macbook pro.

True, im not sure what they can put in, i mean the 15" currently as the m370x inside

What do you guys think that these laptop will range around in price? Really want to upgrade my laptop since it struggling to  run some of the games i want to play.
